Essay Structure Guide

Introduction (150 words)

  • Start with a quote, anecdote, or striking statement
  • Define the key terms in the topic
  • State your thesis — your main argument or position
  • Briefly outline what dimensions you'll cover

Body (800-900 words, 4-5 paragraphs)

  • Each paragraph = one dimension (social, economic, political, ethical, environmental)
  • Use the PEE structure: Point → Evidence → Explanation
  • Include at least 2-3 examples per paragraph (schemes, data, case studies)
  • Add counter-arguments and address them
  • Use transition sentences between paragraphs

Conclusion (150 words)

  • Summarize your key arguments (don't introduce new points)
  • Restate your thesis in light of the evidence presented
  • End with a forward-looking statement or call to action
  • A relevant quote can make a powerful ending
